Make the filling

Wash, peal and cut the apples in small pieces.

To a sauce pan over medium heat add the apples, sugar and a ¼ tsp of salt. Feel free to add cinnamon and a dollop of butter for extra flavor.

Cover the apples and cook over low/medium heat for about 3 - 5 minutes.

Make the McDonald’s Apple Pie With Puff Pastry Crust

Cut your cold puff pastry sheet in 4 square pieces.

Brush the edges of each sheet with a beaten egg.

Add the cooked apple, cut some slits in the bread and close the pockets pressing the edges well.

Pop these in the freezer for at least half an hour! These most be cooked chilled or even frozen.

Air fry in a preheated air fryer at 190 °C (375 °F) for around 6 - 8 minutes. It depends if these are cooked chilled or frozen and how dark and crispy you want these.

If using an oven, preheat your oven for a good 10 minutes. Bake in a preheated oven at 190 °C (375 °F) with the fan setting on for about 8 minutes.

Make The Cheat’s Snack Pie Using Sandwich Bread

Roll out the sandwich bread. If your bread has a crust, trim it or the pockets won't seal.

Brush the edges of the bread with a beaten egg.

Add the cooked apple, cut some slits in the bread and close the pockets pressing the edges well.

Brush with melted butter and sugar (brush all sides, even the bottom). For a darker color, brush the pockets with a beaten egg and sugar.

Air fry in a preheated air fryer at 180 °C (350 °F) for 3 - 5 minutes.

Pro Tips

As these pies sit they will lose their crispiness (like all pies do). You can easily and quickly revive the crust by either popping them in a toaster or back in your air fryer for 2 minutes.

You can double the recipe for more servings.
